Stop right there, I know what you’re thinking from the title. NO I DIDN’T GO ON A REAL DATE. It was even better, my friend Emily and I had a nice dinner just the two of us. She’s better company than any Tinder right swipe.

Palomino is located in the heart of downtown Indianapolis, right on Maryland St. They have great food, a lovely cocktail menu and quite a large wine list. But, my favorite part about Palomino is their AMAZING service. They staff is always so sweet, patient, and helpful. (Long live the Oxford comma!) This is a compliment I don’t give lightly. I also recently cut gluten out of my diet due to health seasons, so going to restaurants can be intimidating. If the menu isn’t marked gluten free, I have to rely on the server and it’s easy to tell when I ask that some are immediately annoyed. Not only was Palomino’s menu marked with gluten free options, but the server didn’t make me feel like a basic wanna be when I asked about the gluten free pizza crust. In fact, he was so kind that he remembered I was gluten free and suggested the MOST AMAZING dessert option. Wanna play a game? Reread this paragraph and take a drink every time I say “gluten free”.

For appetizers, we ordered the Brussel Sprouts and Pancetta, Roasted Garlic with Cambozola and split a Charred Kale Salad. Everything but the Pancetta was gluten free, which was fine because I was only there for the cheese and garlic. Which was soooo delightful! Did I mention they “crack” the garlic right on your table? It’s so fresh, and delicious – it’s what I imagine happiness tastes like.

Then came the main course. If you ever want to know the way to my heart, it’s through wine and gluten free pizza. I can’t explain how happy the Palomino Gluten Free Pizza made my mouth and heart feel. Yeah, I said it. Their gluten free pizza crust is handmade in the kitchen, which is rare, and you can taste the difference. No lie, it tastes was better than ANY gluten free pizza option I’ve tried. Literally drooling on my keyboard just thinking about it. My friend who doesn’t usually eat gluten free even liked the crust. Well done, Palomino. Well done!

Just when I thought I couldn’t be any happier, and my pants couldn’t get any tighter these gluten free donuts WITH NUTELLA arrived. I’ve been trying to think of proper words to describe these and I have nothing. No words can accurately explain this warm, soft, sugary treat.

Needless to say, if Palomino was a first date – there would most definitely be a second one!
