My #fASHionatelyFit series is back and today we’re talking performance! It’s been three years since I’ve run my last half marathon, and I am SO excited to be signing up for one this fall. Training for any type of physical race/competition requires a lot of time, and dedication. I work full time (which includes travel), I am fixing up my new home, I write for my blog, and I attempt to have a social life. I always try to fit in a workout, but I sadly have a tendency to put my fitness goals on the back burner. But not anymore! I’m so focused and determined to make this my best half marathon yet, and I’m doing this with the help of EAS® 100% Whey Protein.
I’m terrible at recovering from long runs. Previously I wasn’t stretching or eating the proper nutrients post run to let my body recover. Not only did that make me feel sluggish, but it really affected the performance of my next run. So this is how I’m making a change to affect my running performance!
After my run, I made up a shake using the recommended two scoops of protein powder, 1/2 cup blue berries, 1/2 cup spinach, water and ice. I wanted to not only get the protein my body needs to recover and allow me to have a stronger performance next run, but also get in a serving of fruit and veggies. When making your protein shake get creative. If you work out in the morning, add cold coffee for a caffeine kick. Or, make your protein shake your sweet treat and add some Almond Butter.
From what I’ve read, you should drink your recovering drink within 30 minutes of a run. It’s so important that your body properly recovers so your performance can continue to increase. Just like a pair of shoes with a broken heal aren’t the best for walking in, your body without proper nutrients isn’t going to perform to its potential.
EAS® 100% Whey Protein Powder contain 30 grams of protein which is the ideal amount for your body to recover, and each serving is only 160 calories. What I love most is that it doesn’t use some “proprietary blend” of whey protein but it uses high-quality pure whey protein. It contains no fillers or added sugar, yet seriously tastes amazing. I’m not a fan of most protein shakes, or bars, they taste like chalk to me but I absolutely loved this one in the vanilla flavor (it’s a new and improved version if you’ve ever tried it before).
It’s an added bonus that the lid holds the scoop. I get so annoyed when I have to dig through the powder to find it. Purchase now and you’ll earn $3.00 when you purchase EAS® 100% Whey Protein or $1 when you purchase EAS® AdvantEdge Carb Control. I love saving money.
So let’s recap…
- Go to Walmart, buy your EAS® 100% Whey Protein.
- Go for a run (or your preferred workout routine).
- Within 30 minutes, make your protein shake using the ingredients of your choice.
- Enjoy the take of 30 grams of protein, and only 160 calories refueling your body. You’ll feel the difference in your performance during your next workout!
